Gomoku: Five Stones in a Row is a strategic board game for a pair of participants. On a square grid measuring 19×19 (in the classic version) or 15×15 (in the contemporary sports variant) points, players alternately position stones of two hues. The victor is the one who first forms an unbroken line of five stones of their color vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. It features numerous variations, differing in specific aspects of the rules. The game is thought to have originated in China over two millennia ago. Presently, the game is recognized globally; athletic competitions are conducted based on it.
